About me

Hi, I'm Cindy, a travel enthusiast. I am Dutch with Indonesian roots and living in the beautiful South of France. I believe that travel is the most enriching form of education, allowing us to discover new cultures, broaden our horizons, and see the world from a fresh perspective. Through my own adventures, I've learned the importance of open-mindedness, cultural sensitivity, and embracing the unknown. For me, seeing the world with my own eyes means experiencing it authentically, connecting with local communities, and truly understanding different perspectives.I'm passionate about sharing my love of travel and helping others create their own incredible journeys.

How I Caught the "Travel Bug"Growing up, my family trips were mainly focused on visiting relatives in the Netherlands each year and a few countries like Spain and Sweden. Travel wasn't a significant part of my childhood until a school trip to Scotland when I was 14. The rugged landscapes, the scottish culture – it completely captivated me. This experience sparked something within me, and at 18, I decided to return to Scotland to work for six months, which truly cemented my passion for travel. It was there, amidst the rolling hills and friendly faces, that I truly caught the "travel bug," as a fellow traveler I later met in Belgium described so well. This "bug" has been a driving force in my life ever since, pushing me to step outside my comfort zone and embrace every experience with open arms. Travel has been an incredible journey of self-discovery, allowing me to live life to the fullest and embrace personal growth.

My passion for travel has now led me to explore more than 30 countries, a number I'm constantly adding to.But, I'm not the type of traveler who rushes from one tourist hotspot to another. I prefer to savor each experience, truly discover a country, spending time with locals and living as they do. It's the locals who truly bring a place to life with their smiles, their warmth, and their culture. They possess a unique understanding of their homeland, revealing insights that standard travel agencies often miss. It's through these encounters that I've met some truly inspiring individuals.Cross-cultural connections are, without a doubt, one of the most rewarding aspects of travel.

Whether I'm having a solo expedition, forging unforgettable memories with friends on a thrilling adventure, or sharing the open road with my loyal dog, each journey leaves an indelible mark, fueling my passion for discovering the world's hidden wonders. These experiences have shaped my understanding of what makes a truly unforgettable journey. Also, I think there's something beautiful about the way some places we visit resonate so deeply within us. They evoke emotions that linger long after we've departed, creating a sense of longing and a desire to return. These places don't simply fade into the background of our memories; they continue to hold a special place in our hearts, reminding us of the joy, wonder, or peace we experienced there. We all have those places.
